    		 A Geographic Information System (GIS) can have many useful applications. However, the need to manipulate significant amounts of geographic data often make such applications consume a lot of time and CPU resources to be executed.

    To address that problem more efficiently, there are special extension packages for some databases like PostgreSQL and Oracle.

    This class provides a interface to call the PostGIS package, making it easier to develop GIS applications using PHP and PostgreSQL.

    • This class is a wrapper to execute the stored procedures of the PostGIS package for manipulating objects of a Geographic Information System (GIS) stored in PostgreSQL.

    Most of the class functions just call PostGIS procedures, but there are also utility functions for instance to import ESRI shapefiles.
