What is the purpose of a women's PHP user group?

I'm sure everyone has noticed an uneven distribution of men and women in the programming community. However, I am still not clear on what phpWomen's goals are. Is it to recruit non-programmer women to become programmers? Do women have special needs or different goals than men? Am I completely missing the point here?

The goal is encourage women to become more involved in the PHP community activities, like PHP conferences, PHP user groups, PHP magazines, etc..
