| One important step missed in the article is to do url redirection during site migration. Site migration impacts everyone, u'd better do so. Have a look at the URLRedirector solution provided by http://www.pangosoft.ca. They are good at this. |

If you lower the TTL of DNS records with good anticipation, DNS query caches will pick up DNS changes very quickly.
Anyway, point 7 mentions URL redirection to handle the case on which lowering the TTL is not possible or there may other computers caching DNS queries for longer than the previous TTL. |
