I think elaborating on the delays due to the DNS lookups might also be useful for readers. I'm no expert, but it sounds like you are...
Sorry for my ignorance, but I can't find the examples.

| I did finally find the examples and the classes. It wasn't clear to me that these classes were not part of PHP but rather contributed to PHPClasses by you. I have started reviewing your classes now. Thanks for a very interesting article and class package. |

I am not sure what you would like to be covered regarding DNS lookups as that is not a PHP related issue.
