If this doesn't win I'll be really disappointed in the taste of the users. This is leagues above the other contender in the final vote. It's clean, bug-free (try previewing pages in the other theme and you'll see several bugs), beautiful yet sparse, and very serious looking.
I hope everyone has the sense to vote for this design this last round. |

Here's an example. Go to each design:
http://www.phpclasses.org/design/theme/igd01.html
http://www.phpclasses.org/design/theme/coolsky.html
Next, choose these settings for both designs:
Preview user: Premium subscriber
Preview page: Home page
Now notice that the "InterGraphicDESIGNS_01" design has several bugs (all observed in Firefox 3):
* A bunch of random icons at the absolute top of the page.
* The bookmark/share bar takes up a HELL of a lot of space and the "Bookmark in del.icio.us" link is still broken up into several lines (bugged), how hard can it fail? ;)
* There are several CSS "Overflow" bugs, leading to an extra-wide HORIZONTAL scrollbar, and if you decide to scroll to the right, be prepared for ugliness as the background cuts right off. ;)
* The entire page contents look extremely cramped.
* Again, for effect: The entire page contents look EXTREMELY cramped.
Now, set both pages to 100% wide. You will notice that the "Cool Sky" design (this one) expands its already airy, easy-to-read design and uses all available space to make it even clearer, while the "InterGraphicDESIGNS_01" design doesn't benefit at all from larger screens.
Set them back to 1024x768 preview.
Now check "Categories" sub-page, where you'll see that "Cool Sky" highlights the category titles REALLY well and is easy to skim through, whereas "InterGraphicDESIGNS_01" is MUCH harder to read.
Next up, check the "Package page", which looks absolutely AWFUL in "InterGraphicDESIGNS_01", with a COMPLETE MESS of too-thin elements, causing the text contents EVERYWHERE to wrap around and become multi-line, and scrolling around you will quickly notice how awful and jumbled everything looks. Now look at "Cool Sky" and you'll see that the designer has given each element plenty of space, and everything looks organized and easy to read.
Finally, preview the "Latest entries page" for both, where you'll see that ONCE AGAIN "InterGraphicDESIGNS_01" has made a complete mess with too-thin elements, leading to wrapping text and pure mess, and the entry-list itself looks horrible, completely un-styled. Now look at "Cool Sky" and you'll notice, as usual, that everything has been thought of, with beautiful "Share" and "RSS" bars at the top, and the entire entry-list is styled in an alternating-column pattern, allowing the eye to easily see the separation and follow each entry.
Please cast your vote for "Cool Sky" if you know what good design is. ;-) |

And remember that this should NOT be about empathy votes (please no "stop picking on poor InterGraphicDESIGNS_01, just because of that I'm gonna vote for that one, you big meanie").
It's about *choosing THE design that we will be looking at for a LONG time on this site*. ;-) |

| it am in agreement with you, InterGraphicDESIGNS_01 is a poor design with many many errors in the CSS and a simple pretty elephant that on Internet explorer is seen very very wrong, and never must pass it to enter to the competence.. |

Thanks for your comment. I hope we are in the majority.
I don't have Internet Explorer to try with, but hearing that it's *completely* broken in Internet Explorer doesn't surprise me at all, since it's even broken in Firefox.
The only hopes we have are that "InterGraphicDESIGNS_01" either fixes all bugs (even then, it's uglier than "Cool Sky"), or that people vote for the right design ----> Cool Sky.
I just noticed yet another MASSIVE bug with "InterGraphicDESIGNS_01", not sure how I could miss it before. Again, with Firefox 3: The top bar on ALL pages (the one with "Search box", "All class groups", "Latest entries", "Top 10 Charts", etc etc) is REALLY broken. The icons alternate between being placed on the top or bottom row, and the text is a complete mess.
How did it even succeed in entering the competition? Let alone get the most votes last round. It's a complete MESS!
I fear for this competitions result. Please vote for Cool Sky, or suffer when the *entire site* becomes a complete mess. Remember, one of these designs will be the new site design, so it's not a choice you should take lightly or out of empathy. Cool Sky is simply a much better design, where everything is easy to read and I haven't seen a single bug.
Go on everyone that reads this, be prepared to put the vote in the right basket so the site doesn't suffer. ;-) |

| I'd also like to congratulate Guilherme, the author of Cool Sky, for being an expert at CSS. His design is full of advanced CSS tricks like the variable-width buttons on the top bar actually swapping CSS style on mouseover, to one with a highlighted background. Likewise, the alternating-color rows on the site will highlight whenever you mouse over them, making it incredibly easy to see what's going on. I sincerely hope you win. Good luck! |

| the principal error that has "InterGraphicDESIGNS_01" is that it is not a single rival the one which did that design, it is a group of designers that not know nothing of usability and accessibility, believe that is just that a group of present designers a design with errors while that other rivals work in an individual way... the rules were not clear in this way.. |
