getting this message when running captcha_image directly

"Fatal error: Call to undefined function: imagecreatefrompng() in C:\WEBSITE\kgcaptchaclass\kgCaptcha.class.php on line 69"

the reason i ran it directly is because i cant when i ran the test page the image didnt show up. any thoughts?
