We have a PHP/MYSQL based application running on an intranet . The Application is installed using XAMPP on a windows XP machine.

The network has a domain controller and active directory setup.

Is it possible to authenticate the user through the active directory rather than keying in the credentials in our application.

If Yes - what level of information can be fetched through the active directory - can we also store application level Add/edit/read permissions in active directory
