Map objects to MySQL database table rows

This class can be used to map objects to MySQL database rows using Martin Fowler's Active Record design pattern as popularised by Ruby on Rails.

It can store and retrieve objects in MySQL tables with minimal configuration.

Applications can use sub-classes of this base class to create application domain objects that support relationships, data validation, compound properties, clean ups and transactions.

This base class looks up the columns in a MySQL database tables automatically, and translates these to object properties.

Authenticate users with MySQL database records

This package can be used to authenticate users against a MySQL database of user records.

It can verify whether there is a record for an active user given the user name and password.

If the authentication succeeds, it creates a record for a new session in another database table.

The new session identifier is set to a session cookie. This cookie can be verified in subsequent accesses to determine whether the user was previously authenticated and the session did not expire.

Map table rows to objects with Active Record

This package uses the Active Record design pattern to map database table records to objects.

It provides a base class from which all classes that map database tables should inherit.

The sub-class should define the table it is wrapping, the primary key field and variables to store the table field values.

The base class can query the database to retrieve the list of fields of the specified table. It can also perform all the basic operations of INSERT, SELECT, UPDATE and DELETE the mapped table rows.

This package uses ADODb database abstraction package so it can support multiple databases.

Store and retrieve objects from a database

This class can be used to store and retrieve objects in a relational database using the Active Record design pattern.

It can initialize an object that is mapped to a given database table turning table fields into variables of the object class.

The class may optionally load object variable values from GET or POST values.

The class also supports relationships in order to retrieve related objects into an array.

When an object is changed, the class may also take care of of updating the respective database table record.

The database access is implemented by a separate database abstraction layer (DAL) object.

Currently this package comes with a MySQL DAL class but others may be provided to support other databases.
