Queue newsletters in MySQL for delivering later

This class can be used to queue newsletters in a MySQL database for delivering later.

It can add newsletter messages to a queue that is actually a table in a MySQL database. It stores the message sender, recipient, subject and the body text.

A separate process, eventually started by a task scheduler program like cron, calls the class queries the queue database table to retrieve the details of the messages pending to be delivered.

When a pending message is delivered, the respective database record is removed.

Each run of the delivery process only execute for a limited period of time.

Check whether it is time to run a periodical task

This class can be used to check whether it is time to run a task that must run from time to time.

It creates a control file to keep track the last time the task was scheduled.

The class can check the control file last modification time to determined whether it passed a given period of time since the last time the task was run.

If the given interval time has passed since the last run, the class recreates the control file and returns true to inform the application that is time to run the task again.

Create and control Unix daemon processes

This package provides a base class that can create and manage daemon processes on Linux or other Unix-like systems.

This base class can fork the current process and store the child process identifier in a pid file. The forked process enters an infinite loop executing its job until it receives a termination signal.

The base class is not useful by itself. It needs to be derived to implement daemon job as a function of the sub-class. A daemon job subclass is provided as an example.
