Online poll system with administration interface

This package is meant to create online surveys. It lets you create Web based polls with a single question for which the users can only pick one answer of multiple answers. There is no limit of possible answers per poll.

The poll questiom, the possible answers and the respective vote count are store in MySQL database tables.

The system does not require authentication nor keeps track of the address of the users but has protection to prevent that users of the same IP address vote more than once for a given period.

The class can generate HTML forms presenting a poll in a Web page, as well display the table of the current results.

A separate class can generate a HTML based Web interface to create, activate and delete polls.

Watch a log file and e-mail newly added lines

This class is meant to poll log files and take any newly added lines and send them to a given watcher e-mail address.

Although this class can be used to poll any type of log files, it was developed with the intention to overcome a limitation of the PHP error trapping system that is not able to capture certain types of errors like script parsing errors or file upload failures. Despite of this, these errors are sent to a log file if error logging is enabled in the PHP configuration.

The goal of this class is to capture the error messages sent to log files and send them by e-mail to a person responsible for a site, so any necessary action may be taken with minimal delay.

To use this class to watch the PHP error log, take the example script and adjust any values to match your PHP configuration.

For security reasons, in a production environment, you are strongly encouraged disable displaying PHP errors on Web pages and enable logging errors to a log file. A sample php.ini configuration file is provided to indicate which options should be set in a production environment.

Process a poll without reloading the poll page

This class can be used to present and process a poll without reloading the page where it appears.

It uses an HTML template to present the poll page. The poll options appear as radio buttons in a place determined by the template.

The class also generates the necessary Javascript to submit the poll votes to the server and present the current poll results using AJAX.

Build and process polls stored in a database

This class is meant to build and process survey polls with definitions and results stored in a database.

It uses the ezSQL class by Justin Vincent and the Template Engine class by Jonas Lasauskas. To use the PollEng class you need to have these two classes and your site must be built with the Template Engine class.

This class allows you to:

- read the poll data from the database
- display the poll (question or results)
- update votes in the database

Draw graphical percentage bars made of star icons

This class is meant to generate graphic percentage bars made with start icons.

It can be used to present the results of poll systems on which the generated percentage bars represent relative values of each poll choice.

The class comes in two versions: one for drawing large stars and another for small stars.

Several presentation details may be configured like the star colors the number of starts to present for 100% bars.

The class generates the star bars images in PNG format.
