Serve play lists to implement a Web based jukebox

This class provides the functionality of a simple jukebox like Web based Radio.

It can generate and serve play list files that contain the URLs of a set of audio files that are queued for playing consecutively.

The audio files to be played are stored in queue directory. The class keeps the play order according to the order by which the files were uploaded to the queue directory. The files are deleted from the queue directory after they are served.

The class supports both Windows Media Player and WinAmp and compatible play lists, but WinAmp is more reccomended because it does not cache the files. Windows Media Player hangs on playing just one file again and again sometimes.

The player must be set to repeat continuously the audio track. In case of Windows Media Player also to always connect to the Internet ('Options/Player/Connect to the Internet'). Then just select 'File/Open URL' and type in the Internet address of the script.

Queue newsletters in MySQL for delivering later

This class can be used to queue newsletters in a MySQL database for delivering later.

It can add newsletter messages to a queue that is actually a table in a MySQL database. It stores the message sender, recipient, subject and the body text.

A separate process, eventually started by a task scheduler program like cron, calls the class queries the queue database table to retrieve the details of the messages pending to be delivered.

When a pending message is delivered, the respective database record is removed.

Each run of the delivery process only execute for a limited period of time.

Manage a queue of users competing to run a task

This class can be used to manage a queue of users competing to execute a task that can only be run by a single user at a time.

The class stores in a MySQL table the queue of users that want to execute a task.

An entry in the queue table is added for each user that wants to run the task.

While the current user is not the next to run the task, he must wait for his turn.

When the first user in the queue finishes to run the task, its queue entry is deleted to pass the turn to the next user in the queue.
