Create a submit-ready HTML form from a MySQL table

Formitable is a PHP class used to ease the creation of submit-ready HTML forms from MySQL database tables. It analyzes the fields of a given table and outputs the best input type for each (e.g. enum type becomes radio buttons or select, set type becomes checkboxes or multiselect). Data is automatically inserted into the table upon form submission. Features include:

Serve play lists to implement a Web based jukebox

This class provides the functionality of a simple jukebox like Web based Radio.

It can generate and serve play list files that contain the URLs of a set of audio files that are queued for playing consecutively.

The audio files to be played are stored in queue directory. The class keeps the play order according to the order by which the files were uploaded to the queue directory. The files are deleted from the queue directory after they are served.

The class supports both Windows Media Player and WinAmp and compatible play lists, but WinAmp is more reccomended because it does not cache the files. Windows Media Player hangs on playing just one file again and again sometimes.

The player must be set to repeat continuously the audio track. In case of Windows Media Player also to always connect to the Internet ('Options/Player/Connect to the Internet'). Then just select 'File/Open URL' and type in the Internet address of the script.

Search for words and phrases in a a MySQL table

This class can be used to search for words and phrases in text fields of a MySQL database table.

It can generate a Web search form with an input field to enter the search text, a submit button and radio buttons to let the user tell whether the search should find records with all the words or at least one of them. The form text and presentation style is configurable with CSS.

The class can perform the search for the specified text with prior cleanup to avoid security exploits. The searched text is stored in a session variable so the user can be reminded of the last search.

The search can treat words separately or as phrases when the user encloses the words in double quotes.

The search results are returned in an array that contains a list of distinct records that matched the searched text.

The table name and the table fields to be searched and the fields to be returned as result of the search are configurable.

Process a poll without reloading the poll page

This class can be used to present and process a poll without reloading the page where it appears.

It uses an HTML template to present the poll page. The poll options appear as radio buttons in a place determined by the template.

The class also generates the necessary Javascript to submit the poll votes to the server and present the current poll results using AJAX.

Create an online radio for serving music playlists

This class is a simple class that can be used to create an online radio by serving playlists of music streams that should be played one after another.

It can work with three different types of music streams: MP3, WMA and Real Audio.

A sample HTML file is included to show how the class can be used to play audio files with Windows Media Player object.
