RSS feed parser based on pure PHP XML parser

DOMIT! RSS is an RSS feed parser written purely in PHP. It therefore does not require the installation of any PHP extensions.

Unlike most other PHP RSS clients, it uses a DOM XML parser -- DOMIT! -- to convert an RSS feed into a DOM document that can be traversed using the standard DOM methods.

DOMIT! RSS is able to parse all versions of RSS formats. Its API is designed to work identically across all versions.

Its caching mechanism saves a local copy of the RSS feed and updates it only at specified intervals. It is able to detect certain types of non-compliant XML and repair it.

A lightweight DOMIT! RSS Lite class is available for users who wish only to extract title, link, and description elements from a feed.

Parse a RSS/XML feed from a given URL.

Getting a feed from another Web site, should be quick and simple. Any unneeded complications should be avoided.

This class provides way to retrieve feeds in RSS/XML format and display them on a Web page.

There are several versions of RSS/RDF. However, in practice, all versions follow the same pattern: A publication link is contained within <item> tags and consists of a <title>, <link>, and a <description>.

The class was tested with feeds from many different sources using all versions.

The class returns an HTML unordered list. The example script shows how it should be used to process and display the feed in table of a Web page.

Generate RSS 2.0 feed from an array of items

This class can be used to generate a RSS feed compliant with the version 2.0 of RSS specification.

The class is based on Paulius Lescinskas' Easy RSS class.

It can generate a complete RSS 2.0 feed passing an array of item definition arrays. The item arrays describe item properties such as the title, link URL, description and publication date.

The global properties of the feed can be set by assigning class variables with the same names. The supported feed properties are: the title, description, publication date, generator name, language and encoding.
