Prevent session hijacking or session fixation

This class can be used to prevent security attacks known as session hijacking and session fixation.

When a session is initialized the class computes a fingerprint string that takes in account the browser user agent string, the user agent IP address or part of it and a secret word. If the fingerprint value changes, it is very likely that the session was hijacked and it should no longer be accepted.

To prevent session fixation attacks the calls the PHP session_regenerate_id() function so the session identifier changes everytime the session is checked.

This class can be used to set and get session variables using encryption.

It can set a given session variable using the CAST 128 class to encrypt the values before storing them.

The class can also do the opposite, i.e. retrieve session variables decrypting their values.

Secure user authentication encrypting password

This class can be used to authenticate Web users securely.

It creates a key encoded with SHA1 based on the IP address and the current time when an user accesses the login page.

The key is used to generate a salt value that is used to encrypt the password that the user enters in the login form.

On the server side the class uses the same salt to verify whether the password entered by the user matches the password stored in a database.

If the authentication is successful, the class starts an authenticated user session.

The login keys, user and session information is stored in a database. Currently the class supports either MySQL or PostgreSQL databases.
