This class can be used as session handler to store session data in private directories or in a MySQL database table, instead of the default system temporary directory.

When using a MySQL database table as a container for the session data, the class takes care of opening the database connections and perform the SQL queries as needed. It can also create the database table to store the session data.

When using a private directory as a container for the session data, the class takes care of opening, reading and writing to the session files as needed.

"My session" is a class that manages user access sessions by storing session data in a MySQL database.

This session storage method is more secure than the session system of PHP that by default stores session data in files.

The class may optionally encrypt the stored session data.

User session management with security features

This class can manage user access sessions providing some security features.

It verifies whethers the IP address and the browser identification (user agent) are not different from those used when the session is created. Otherwise, the session is flagged as invalid. An exception is opened for users accessing the site via AOL, due to the rotating proxy problem.

It also provides functions for setting, getting, removing and checking the existance of individual session variables.

The session variables can be referred using dots for separating the names of indexes of sessions variables stored in multi-dimensional associative arrays, like for instance, "config.ip" instead for $_SESSION["config"]["ip"].

In French:

Cette classe contrôle que l'adresse ip et le user-agent sont identiques tout au long de la session. Si ce n'est pas le cas, c'est que votre session a été "volée". Cette classe vous permet aussi de gérer les variables de session plus simplement.

Manage sessions storing in a database with PEAR DB

This package is meant to act a session manager handler using as container a database accessed using PEAR::DB package rather than using the default container which is based on files.

This can be useful for instance to store user session data of sites served using load balanced array of Web servers.

Simply include the class file, create a new instance of the class passing a PEAR::DB object.

You can now use PHP sessions as usual but the session data will be stored in your database.

Notice that there are some known problems using this method with one build of PHP 4.2.2, due to what seems to be a bug in the session_set_save_handler function. If you are using this PHP version your are recommended to upgrade.

This class is meant to provide an API to initialize and manage user access sessions.

It initializes a session assuring that the session storage directories exist, closes a session, destroys a session, get the session identified, add, retrieve, update and delete session variables, check whether a session is registered and retrieve the count of opened sessions.
