| Description: | We love working remotely and have been doing so from day one – you won't be spending all day on Zoom calls! You need to be comfortable choosing where you work, suitably drenched in Wi-Fi and in reach of GitHub/Slack. We're all about the output, and trust you to do a great job wherever you are. That said, a lot of the team are based in the Midlands – so ideally you'll be within easy traveling distance of Leicester, where we meet in person every few weeks. We work closely with our customers, so it's likely you'll need to say hello to them in person a couple of times a year, too. With great power comes great responsibility Attention to detail, clear written skills, and the ability to work in a team are essential. Since we're not usually all in the same room, you absolutely must be able to communicate well and share progress often. That doesn't mean we interrupt/distract each other, though, as we're firm believers in being approachable through asynchronous working. We'll expect you to be constantly learning and developing your skills, and to be fully involved in sprint planning, retros, and daily scrums, along with all the developers and our project manager. - Full-stack (versatilist!) developer Your main focus will be on developing new features, building enhancements, and supporting/maintaining our Laravel 12 application. Clean, object-oriented, and test-driven code is a must. While the majority of development is PHP 8.4, you'll be confident using modern CSS and JavaScript, built with Vite. We also hope you appreciate a clean/simple UI (Bootstrap) and consider usability. We work with some chunky MySQL databases, so profiling and optimizing experience is essential. You'll have a good understanding of the DevOps side of things, such as Docker, S3, LAMP/SSL, SSH/SFTP, Composer, and Bun. Confidence with Linux CLI is important, as is experience with CI/CD and GitHub Actions. Security testing and DNS are less essential, but would be an advantage. We're big believers in "Progress beats Perfection", so when you come across code that would benefit from refactoring or better test coverage, you're able to quickly carry on with the task at hand while concocting a cunning plan for improvement. You'll join in with your fair share of evening/weekend on-call support for which you're paid extra on top of your salary. This is only used for rare emergencies (2–3 times/year) but provides vital reassurance for our customers. Applying Email us to let us know why you're the right person for the job. Include your CV, but more important to us is how you communicate examples of your proudest achievements and articulate how you'd apply your skills to Fusions. If you stand out, we'll all get together for introductions in a video call, or in person if convenient. We'll be looking for healthy GitHub/StackOverflow profiles to demonstrate your community involvement. We'll also expect standout applicants to take part in a small coding challenge! This simply involves you opening a pull request to solve a PIM-specific problem we've tackled before – ideal for helping us understand your approach and communication skills. Remuneration will be dependent on ability and experience. Please be sure to include your annual salary expectation. Benefits - Remote working - Company-supplied Apple laptop - 22 days holiday (plus bank holidays) |
