| Description: | About the Role Our client is a growing SaaS company building productivity tools on top of WordPress. They are looking for a skilled WordPress plugin developer to join their fully remote engineering team. You will own the full lifecycle of plugin development from architecture to deployment and work closely with a small, async-first team. Responsibilities - Design, develop, and maintain custom WordPress plugins from scratch - Write clean, modular, well-documented PHP following WordPress coding standards - Build and consume RESTful APIs for third-party integrations (payment gateways, CRMs, analytics tools, etc.) - Optimize plugins for performance, scalability, and security - Conduct code reviews and maintain documentation - Debug and resolve issues across plugin versions and WordPress core updates - Collaborate asynchronously with product and design teams via Slack and Notion Requirements - 3+ years of professional WordPress plugin development experience - Expert-level PHP (OOP, namespacing, autoloading, PSR standards) - Strong JavaScript and jQuery; familiarity with vanilla ES6+ - Solid understanding of WordPress hooks system (actions, filters, custom post types, taxonomies) - Experience with MySQL — query optimization, custom table design - REST API development and integration experience - Version control with Git (GitHub/GitLab workflows) - Ability to work independently and communicate clearly in English (async) Nice to Have - WooCommerce extension development - Experience with Gutenberg block development (React-based) - Familiarity with multisite WordPress setups - Basic DevOps — staging environments, deployment pipelines, caching layers (Redis, Varnish) - Experience with headless WordPress / decoupled architecture What’s Offered - Fully remote, async-first work environment - Flexible working hours (overlap with UTC+0 to UTC+5 preferred) - Competitive compensation based on experience - Long-term engagement with growth opportunities |
